Comments are here!!

Check the bottom of your Zaps. Commenting has been implemented. You can comment and view comments via a web browser now and in about a week you’ll be able to view and delete comments right from the Zapd app itself .

We are so excited to be where we are. Over the last few weeks you’ve been telling us where you’d like to see Zapd go and we’ve been listening.  As always, the way we’ve approached things is to develop correctly for each device.  To view comments on your iPhone, you simply swipe to the right.  Swipe to the left to view your profile.

Swipe to the right for the new comments column on an iPhone.

Similarly, comments are correctly oriented on your iPad. Indeed, most folks still don’t realize that when they make a Zap they are in fact making three separate and wholly optimized websites.

The next update we release will actually allow you to get notifications on your phone each time someone leaves a comment.  And, you’ll even be able to select a custom URL as well!  Pretty cool.  Hopefully we’ll have time to add in a few other surprises as well.  Maybe a new theme or two?  Why not.

We’re busily developing new features to make Zapd the de facto standard for making beautiful, instant websites from wherever you are.  In the brief few weeks since we’ve launched, hundreds of thousands of you have shown us a myriad of ways you use Zapd.  Parties. Vacations.  Graduations.  Weddings. Businesses.  We can’t wait to see where you’ll point us next.

Got more good ideas?

Please don’t hesitate to drop me an email and let me know!

  1. I know this is probably something already included but I am just not smart enough to figure out but why is it that whenever I make a new entry and publish it to facebook, the only thing that appears is the first image and post created for the site? I feel like I am spamming my firends. =(

Is there a way to post the entry I am publishing to Facebook instead?

    Thanks, live the app.

Thanks for getting in touch. Facebook caches the image associated with a URL – so it will always keep the first image associated with a particular link you post. We are working on lots of updates and this is something we intend to change in the near future.

Thank you so much!!! This is totally cool!

On a side note – I actually don’t mind just the first pic and link showing up in Facebook (re: the previous commenter’s post). But we’ll leave it to you design gurus to figure out which works best. :-)

  3. This is cool, but I have two questions that I’ve yet to see answered anywhere:

Do Zaps get included in Google indexing, ie if someone searches for a term that your Zap is about, do they see it among the results that Google returns?

And, is there any way to make the pictures posted reverse chronological? It’s a bummer to have to scroll all the way to the bottom to see a new picture.

    Thx.

      Hi Greg,

Thanks for the feedback. Zaps are regularly crawled by google like any other webpage. As for the order of posts – we are updating very soon with an option to have new posts at the top!

  4. Jeannie

How do you delete something in my zapd website? thanks for your help. Jeannie

    • zapd_blog

      Hi Jeannie,

If you’re wondering how to delete one of your elements – a picture, text box or link, just tap on the item when you’re in the editor. A new screen will pop up with a small grey trash can icon in the corner. Tap it and you’ll be given the option to Delete or Cancel. Once you’ve deleted, publish your Zap again (you don’t have to share to Facebook or Twitter) in order to update the changes.

Hope that helps! Email us at info[at]zapd[dot]com if you have more questions.

Thanks for getting in touch. If you email us your Zapd account email address and the URL of one of your Zaps, we can reset your password. Just send to info[at]zapd[dot]com. Thanks!

  7. hello,
just some points that need to be included:
    – custom themes and the ability to upload them. and the ability to edit existing themes.
    – Optional Timestamps on both, pix and Text posts
    – control over picture-cropping or just implement the function to post pictures at different sizes and the option to
choose where to place it on the blog (not only vertically but also horizontally!)
    – actually every element of the page should be placeable anywhere on the screen…also text boxes..
    – more different types of elements…up to now we only have pictures and text-boxes (and comments, but only to
the whole page, not to different elements which is my next point)
for example: Lists, Polls, pic-(or whatever)-slides, links-sections and so on… i’m sure you get what i mean
    – option to comment on a particular element (say one picture is rly awesome, then there should be a comment
option right to that picture, and such written comments should also have the option to get toggled or hidden.

your work is simply awesome:) i’m so looking forward to your enhancements!
    greetings
    everSin

      Hi,

Wow, thanks for all the great ideas! You should make an app too! We’re working on a Zapd 2.0 that’s going to blow your mind. Probably.

  8. Cool! What will next update include?

  9. Koolcargirl

Love the app, would like to change the order of photos and perhaps choose how to crop them but really like the simplicity of the app. I created the site from my ipad

Glad you’re enjoying it! You can re-order your photos by touching the 3 horizontal bars on the right hand side of your photos and dragging them up or down.
